The game takes place in modern-day rural America, after the events of Resident Evil 6. Players control Ethan Winters, an ordinary civilian drawn to a derelict plantation in Dulvey, Louisiana, by a message from his wife, Mia, who has been missing for three years. Upon arrival, Ethan discovers a seemingly abandoned, dilapidated mansion that is anything but empty. He is quickly captured by the Baker family—Jack, Marguerite, their son Lucas, and an elderly woman in a wheelchair—who are all infected by a mysterious bio-organic weapon called "Eveline". This infection grants them superhuman regenerative abilities and causes them to go violently insane. This game is playable for ages 18 and up (PEGI 18 / ESRB Mature for intense violence, blood and gore, strong language, and psychological horror).
