Far Cry New Dawn for PS4 is a standalone, post-apocalyptic first-person shooter set 17 years after the nuclear ending of Far Cry 5, returning to a transformed Hope County, Montana, now covered in a colorful “super bloom” where nature has reclaimed the ruins of civilization and new factions battle over the remaining resources. Survivors in the settlement of Prosperity fight back against the ruthless Highwaymen, led by twin sisters Mickey and Lou, as they terrorize the region and strip it of supplies. Players take the role of a customizable security captain who helps rebuild Prosperity and leads expeditions across Hope County and beyond, using scavenged materials to craft weapons like the iconic Saw Launcher and upgrade gear through a light RPG-style progression system. The game features outpost captures that can be “escalated” and retaken at higher difficulties for more rewards.
